چکیده

Abstract To evaluate the possibility of obtaining detailed individual mobility data from archaeological teeth, strontium isotope ratios on 28 human teeth three separate Early-Mid Holocene, Swedish, foraging contexts (Norje Sunnansund, Skateholm and Västerbjers) were analysed through laser ablation. The teeth/individuals have previously been using traditional bulk sampled thermal ionisation mass spectrometry. validate conclusions regarding a tooth modern man with known background was also analysed. result shows that all display less than 0.4% discrepancy between mean values ablation profiles published 25 (89%) 0.2% discrepancy. By calculating linear polynomial trendlines for each ablated tooth, it possible to illustrate strong correlation transition pattern measurements when following chronological sequence tip cervix. Such correlations not reproduced randomized. analyses show chronologically sequenced fit local bioavailable regions, do fluctuate extremes their are caused by end-member mixing. This indicates an increasing resolution reducing ratio averaging time minimizing sampling area. results suggest incorporation in can be measured ordinal scale, traceable order enamel mineralization cervix at equal distance surface. Micro-sampling is considered valid method assess prehistoric, but modern, mobility; technology increases amount information obtained single while rendering minimal damage studied specimen.

Analysis of lead in tooth enamel by laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry.

Laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) was used to determine the Pb/Ca ratios in the enamel of deciduous incisors, a biomarker of in utero Pb exposure, using pelletized bone certified reference materials (CRMs) as calibrants. The detection limit for Pb by LA-ICP-MS was 11 microg kg(-1) demonstrating an adequate sensitivity for Pb in the teeth of unexposed indivi...

Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry

New analytical techniques for multiparametric characterisation of individual cells are likely to reveal important information about the heterogeneity of immunological responses at the single-cell level. In this proof-of-principle study, laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) was applied to the problem of concurrently detecting 24 lineage and activation markers e...

Strontium isotope ratios (87Sr/86Sr) of tooth enamel: a comparison of solution and laser ablation multicollector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry methods.

Strontium isotope ratios (87Sr/86Sr) in tooth enamel provide a means to investigate migration and landscape use in humans and other animals. Established methods for measuring (87)Sr/(86)Sr in teeth use bulk sampling (5-20 mg) and labor-intensive elemental purification procedures before analysis by either thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) or multicollector inductively coupled plasma ma...

Analyte response in laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry.

The dependence of analyte sensitivity and vaporization efficiency on the operating parameters of an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS) was investigated for a wide range of elements in aerosols, produced by laser ablation of silicate glass. The ion signals were recorded for different carrier gas flow rates at different plasma power for two different laser ablation systems and c...

Determination of Lead and Strontium Isotope Ratios in Wines by Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry

Thirteen wine assortments from Romania were investigated from the point of view of their metal content and isotopic ratios Pb/Pb and Sr/Sr. The determination was performed by ICP-QMS. The aim of this study was to detect and quantitatively determine the toxic metals in some white and red wine samples and to investigate them from the point of view of isotopic ratios Pb/Pb and Sr/Sr. Six metals wi...
